Mission
The Long Island Mineral and Geology Society was formed in 1980 to serve the residents on the east end of Long Island, NY. LIMAGS is dedicated to furthering the study of the Earth Sciences and encouraging the participation in the enjoyment of the mineral, geological and lapidary fields.
LIMAGS members are very active with monthly meetings, collecting trips, an annual weekend gem show, mineral show trips. special presentations and lapidary work.
Meetings
Monthly club meetings take place on the second Monday of every month except no meetings in December and July. The meeting location is the George Young Community Center on South Jamesport Road in Jamesport, Long Island, New York. Meetings are from 7:30 - 10:00pm. Meetings for 2010 are 1/11, 2/8, 3/8, 4/12, 5/10, 6/14, 7/12, 8/9, 9/13, 10/11, 11/8.
Club meetings consist of a business portion and an activity, lecture or audio-visual presentation. Activities may also include learning the fine art of lapidary skills from our club experts.
New members and visitors are always welcome!
